Khama Billiant makes u-turn on international football retirement

Khama Billiant has asked for another chance to play for Zin national team

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Sundowns winger Khama Billiat has revisited his decision to retire from international football. Billiat, who even missed the game between Bafana Bafana with Zimbabwe early this year, penned a moving letter after he managed to slightly pick up his form.

LETTER

Billiant left Kaizer Chiefs mid-season in June 2023 without saying his goodbyes and emerged on the list of Yadah FC back at home in Zimbabwe. At the time, he said that he left Amakhosi as he felt like a side chick suggesting he was not appreciated in Naturena. In a letter directed to his fans and the Zimbabwean Federation, Billiat said that joining the Zimbabwean side Yadah FC was the best decision he had ever made in his life. "This season has been among the best phases of my football career. I have played on grand stages, but nothing beats expressing myself in front of my people. Every time I step on the turf, I am motivated to do my best for my team and the thousands who love this sport," he wrote.

RECONSIDERED HIS DECISION

The player also shared how he appreciates being back home in Zimbabwe and playing for his people. "I feel I still have something to give to Zimbabwean football, locally and internationally. I have been reflecting deeply and I am convinced there is one chapter which remains unfinished - between Khama Billiat and the Zimbabwe national football team. I have reconsidered my decision to retire and would love to represent my country one more time. I will continue to work hard on the field and hopefully help the nation in a positive way. I love my country and stand ready to serve if afforded a chance. In God we trust!," he wrote.
