It has been exactly a year since TV host Katlego Maboe returned to our screens, after his baby mama and ex Monique Muller, accused him of abuse and allegedly giving her an STI after cheating. In a video that made rounds on social media, Katlego confessed to cheating. In 2020, Monique was granted a protection order against Katlego after she accused him of domestic abuse. The video led to the media personality losing his job on the Expresso Show as well as gig on OutSurance. He was shamed publicly. After a year of returning to the small screens due to the court dismissing the case, Monique is back, accusing the TV host of financial abuse and not supporting his child.

FINANCIAL ABUSE

In a string of posts and series of stories on Instagram, the mom of one claims the SABC 3 new game show host of Deal Or No Deal is subjecting her to financial abuse in maintenance court. "Are there any other six-figure earning fathers refusing to pay their kid’s school fees? Because this is a topic, I feel we need to discuss… Maybe, Deal Or No Deal can donate some funds there. I can forward the school’s banking details."

Monique says Katlego insisted that their son attend a top private school in Cape Town and wanted her to foot half of the bill, which she could not afford. "You earn ten times more than your baby mama. So, paying school fees in full would not affect your pocket. But you insist that half of her salary must go to school fees (we see this all the time with financial abuse in maintenance courts)," she wrote social media.

MONEY PROBLEMS

Monique went on to share screenshots of text messages between her and Katlego’s current partner Jessica, who allegedly says she’s playing the "poor mom" role. Monique claims that Katlego has multiple streams of income despite his stating unemployment. "I’ve got receipts," she says. "How can your expenses range around 150k and not even a third of that goes to your child? You rock the latest brands, but shop at Pep for your child and not even clothing that currently fits him. Are you not embarrassed as a parent?" Katlego has not responded to the accusations.
