It was the wedding of a lifetime with stars coming out to celebrate as rapper, Jay-Z’s mom Gloria Carter and her partner, Roxanne Wiltshire exchanged nuptials in a star-studded wedding. The couple got married in Tribeca in New York City surrounded by friends and family. Beyonce wore a peach by Dolce & Gabbana. Her daughter Blue Ivy was draped in a floor-length sage green silk Reformation gown. The special day was also attended by Tyler Perry, Kelly Rowland, Robin Roberts, Tina Knowles, and many others. 

COMING OUT

In 2017, the Young Forever rapper revealed in the song ‘Smile’ that his mother had come out to him as a lesbian. "Mama had four kids, but she’s a lesbian. Had to pretend so long that she was a thespian. Had to hide in the closet, so she medicate. Society’s shame and the pain was too much to take," the lyrics go. "Cried tears of joy when you fell in love. Don’t matter to me if it’s him or her. I just wanna see you smile through all the hate. Marie Antoinette, baby, let ’em eat cake."

OPENING UP

In a previous interview, Jay-Z said that his mother came out while he was still working on the album 4:44 and their conversation led to the song "Smile." The song features a poem, written by his mom while on a plane headed to Los Angeles to see him. After presenting him with the poem, he recorded her as she recited it over the phone. "I was sitting there and I was telling him one day. I just finally started telling him who I was. Besides your mother, this is the person that I am, you know? This is the life that I lived," His mom, told D’Usse Friday podcast: "So, my son started, like, tearing because he was like, ’That had to be a horrible life, ma.’ I was like, ’My life was never horrible. It was just different.’ So that made him want to do a song about it."
