Carlo Radebe is back to square one

Renowned actor Carlo Radebe opened up about living in dire poverty and surviving on the R350 social relief of distress grant from the government. This is after he has been battling to secure work, following the COVID-19 pandemic. However, a guardian angel came to the rescue in the form of award-winning producer Duma Ndlovu, who gathered his team to try and help the actor. He was promised a meeting and the possibility of a job at the Duma Ndlovu Academy but the actor has since come forward to state that none of the promises materialised and he is back to living in poverty.

EMPTY PROMISES?

After receiving donations earlier in the year from fans, fiends and followers, Carlo said he was offered to meet up with Duma Ndlovu's team. The team told ZiMoja they were looking at ways where they could assist the actor after the effects of Covid-19 affected his finances. "We managed to speak with him last night as we got the contact numbers from one of his neighbours. We are still looking at him giving mentorship to our students as his life experience will motivate our students at DNA amongst other things,' said the Head of Academy of Duma Ndlovu Academy (DNA), Mapula Setlhako. Carlo has since shared an update stating that the job offer fell through. "I have run out of your kind donations I received in April for only four days,' he said. "Funds I had been receiving were stopped after being promised a job that was never confirmed with me or my agent and an offer for a place to live. All this hype was never confirmed and had me tossed to the wind with no apology or follow-up,' he added.

HOMELESS AGAIN

Carlos said he is back to being homeless again. "I have been stranded, left broke since the beginning of June to fend for myself while I wait for work that I was due to shoot before the elections.' He said he is hurt by the non-materialisation of the promised work. "Hoping my plea finds you alive and well and looking forward to having me back on your screens.' Duma Ndlovu tells ZiMoja that he will do a follow-up on what has happened with Carlo's matter. "I don't know all the day-to-day running of the academy but my staff members will follow up."
