King Misuzulu kaZwelithini will be marrying another wife, Nomzamo Myeni, from the royal family of Jozini, in northern KwaZulu-Natal. He is following in the footsteps of his late father, King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu, who had six wives by the time he passed on 12 March 2021.Senior royal members of the royal family will accompany King Misuzulu to pay lobola to Myeni's family this Sunday.
ANOTHER ROYAL WEDDING
The king is currently married to his long-time partner, Queen Ntokozo kaMayisela Zulu from Newcastle, in northern KwaZulu-Natal. The couple, who have two children, were officially married on 6 May 2021, a day before his mother, Queen Mantfombi Zulu's funeral service.
King Misuzulu also paid lobola to his estranged second wife, Queen Nozizwe Mulela, from the Kingdom of eSwatini and the king also performed other traditional ceremonies before his coronation in August 2022.
The couple are yet to have an actual wedding ceremony. A source told ZiMoja that Misuzulu is not going to get married to Mulela, a University of Stellenbosch graduate and banking guru, because she was 'being forced' to marry him by some senior royal officials in the Kingdom of eSwatini. The source added: "Mulela was liked by King Misuzulu's sisters and some women in the royal household but..."
THEY MET AT THE BANK
The queen-to-be, Myeni met the king at a bank in Jozini, not far from Pongola. The couple is said to have met more than two years ago - after Misuzulu had ascended the throne. Their romance blossomed during that era, said the source. "She apparently quit her job in the banking sector to work closely at the private office of Misuzulu. The relationship had to be kept under wraps until the king was ready to get married to her."
On Sunday, his lobola delegation will take care of everything. The Myenis are expecting a truck full of cows this coming Sunday. There are going to be serious royal festivities," said the source. The spokesperson Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi announced the lobola negotiations which will be held on Sunday. Buthelezi said: "Your Highnesses, the King has found the beautiful rose in the royal family of Myeni in Jozini. He has instructed me to request all the royal family members to accompany him to pay lobola to the Myenis on 5 May 2024." The date of the royal wedding will only be announced after both families had accepted each other as relatives," he added.
