Media personality Penny Lebyane has denied rumours that her gig at Radio 2000 has been canned. The rumour started roaming around after she did not start at the station as previously announced.The station had previously announced that Penny was going to start on April 1 as part of the station's mission to enhance its already growing audience.
Fans were shocked when she did not feature in the station as announced. She tells Zimoja that she did not start on the expected date because she was not feeling well.
"i am still very much part of the station- don’t believe everything you hear. I could not sign the contract early because I was not feeling well ' says Penny.
SICK BEFORE JOINING THE STATION
A source close to the situation confirmed that Penny is very much still a part of Radio 2000. According to the source, she got sick just after negotiating her contract."During the month of March she was not feeling well hence she could not completely sign her contract, " says the source.
The source adds that when she eventually got better, there were few changes that were supposed to be added to her contract.
"Penny is ready to start the show but problem is currently with the SABC. There are people who are supposed to sign but are not available, that is what’s causing the delay,' the source adds.
VERY MUCH PART OF RADIO 2000
The former MetroFM host was scheduled to host a Sunday show called Inspired Sundays, a new style inspirational music driven magazine show on Sundays between 15h00 and18h00. Her fans were looking forward to her show as Penny is no stranger to radio and is known as one of the pioneers of female radio broadcasting in South Africa.
Mmoni Seapolelo , Acting Group Executive for Corporate Affairs and Marketing at SABC, confirmed that Penny is still much part of the station.
"Radio 2000 management can confirm that Ms Penny Lebyane is still part of Radio 2000, and her show is scheduled accordingly," Mmoni said.
