He is grateful to be alive after a health scare. Singer and songwriter Vusi Nova says he has had a lot on his plate; from now running his own recording label full time, grooming talent and bookings. The fact that he's no longer being signed to Muthaland Records means he has had to take on more work. The Vul'indlela singer was recently admitted to hospital for a minor heart condition and high blood pressure triggered by fatigue.

HEALTHY LIVING

Vusi shared a photo of himself in the hospital and captioned with, "Proof Of life, I sometimes forget that I'm not getting any younger. I feel 21! Got back from the hospital this morning and I'm feeling healthier and energised more than ever.' He says he has been diagnosed with high blood pressure and encourages people to take good care of their health. "Make sure you exercise; your diet is proper, and you go for check-ups, eat right. I am trying to eat as clean as possible,' he says. "Yesterday I was hospitalised very early in the morning, around five due to fatigue. My heart was acting up and then I found out that I have high blood pressure. Now I have to take blood pressure medication. Imagine, I thought it was the end of me.'

HEALTH SCARE

Speaking to ZiMoja, Vusi says this is not his first health scare and he was once hospitalised for mitral valve prolapse - a type of heart valve disease that affects the valve between the left heart chambers, which can develop at any age. Symptoms may include an irregular heartbeat, palpitation, and shortness of breath. "It's almost like a heart attack. This time around my blood pressure was 180 instead of the normal pressure which is less than 120/80 mmHg,' he says. "But I'm fine now. I took time off to recuperate.'

THE CAR ACCIDENT

Earlier this year Vusi and his bodyguards survived a serious accident on their way to a gig in the Vaal, from Somizi Mhlongo's 50th birthday celebration in Sun City, Northwest. "When I left my friends at Sun City, at no point was I thinking that it could be the last time that I see them. At no point was I thinking of that and then this accident happened on the way,' he said. "I'm not trying to preach, but I'm being real; I'm being realistic, especially coming from what just happened yesterday. That was a serious accident and by the grace of God ,once again, my bodyguards and I are alright," he continued. This was not his first car accident. In 2020, Vusi was involved in an accident on his way to the airport and the car overturned.
