There is a lot she would like to reveal about her abrupt exit from the eTV show Smoke& Mirrors, but seasoned actress Charmane Mtita said she wishes to keep it clean and keep it moving. Charmaine recently confirmed that she indeed has been dropped from the show after the rumour surfaced.
GRAND EXIT
She told ZiMoja that she wanted to make her exit as clean as possible. "It's a small industry, speaking the truth often gets one into serious trouble and at times unemployment, so I won't get into the details, it's done and I just want to move on.' The former Generations actress with about three decades of acting experience was reported to have left the show due to "Diva-like tendencies on set.' A source revealed they locked horns with bosses and they wrote her off the script. "She just knows what she wants and her worth, which can often be seen as being a diva. It was a matter of contractual agreements and she was very professional about it."
REPUTATION
Despite the talks, Charmaine has cleared the allegations saying she respects her craft and there was nothing 'diva-like' about her exit. "These claims are untrue and risk tarnishing my reputation and career. And I feel it is necessary to address them directly. To clarify my departure, I followed a series of professional discussions between myself and the production team regarding the terms of my role,' she said. "While we did not reach an agreement, the discussions were conducted with mutual respect. I remain committed to my craft and look forward to continuing to bring meaningful and impactful performances to audiences.'
DONE BEFORE
Last year, the show had to let go of actor Zolisa Xaluva following a similar incident of not coming to an agreement about remuneration. "Zolisa was replaced by Hlomla for the same reasons, bosses not wanting to give an increase,' the insider said. "It doesn't equate to a disagreement or a fight. It's just business.' Zuko Nodada who is the producer of the show did not comment on the matter.
