'I'm not scared because the bullets were not meant for me!'

Tebogo Thobejane's friend is recovering after a car they were travelling in was sprayed with bullets

Months after the tragic shooting that involved well known influencer Tebogo Thobejane, her friend, who was with her at the time of the shooting and was injured, has finally decided to break her silence. In an emotional statement, she spoke about her experience, physical injuries and how she is coping after incident that left her traumatised. Tebogo was on her way from Saints Champagne Lounge in Sandton, Johannesburg, around 11 PM with a friend and their driver when three men pulled up and shot at their car.


JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED


Tebogo was left unharmed but her friend, who is known to Zimoja but doesn't want her name mentioned, had to undergo therapy to help her recover from the physical and emotional trauma. Her back was affected but she persevered through the pain. Despite the challenges she?s faced, she is currently studying, showing that she has not allowed the tragedy to hold her back in life.

"Tebogo has been very supportive. I am grateful for what she has done," she admitted. The incident involving Thobejane caused shock and outrage amongst South Africans. A suspect has been arrested and charged with attempted murder and the case is still ongoing. The victim is hopeful that justice will be served.


STILL SHOCKED


Speaking about the incident, the victim said, "I am still in shock and I cannot believe that this happened to me. But I am grateful to be alive, and I am determined to move on with my life. I want to use my story to inspire other young women who may have gone through similar experiences."

She also said she is not scared because the the bullets were not aimed at her. "I am not scared because the bullets were not meant for me,"she added

She said she is currently attending therapy and physio.

"I don't want to dwell much on my injuries but all i can say is that I'm fine and getting there. Life goes on," she said.

Tebogo said what happened to her has been the biggest trauma." Her family and I are fighting to help her get better, and she has absolutely been the strongest person I know. She is currently going through physio, but as you know, it's rather expensive. We're hoping she will recover and I will assist as much as I can. This girl was the hardest working and humble person, and what these men did to her is extremely traumatic. She is pushing through."
