High-ranking MK Party leader resigns

MPL Phumlani Mfeka has handed his resignation letter

When it rains, it pours for the fairly new uMkhonto Wesizwe Party. After a tussle of words between Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla and Floyd Shivambu, the party has now been dealt another blow with the resignation of their high-profile member and KwaZulu-Natal member of the provincial legislature, Phumlani Mfeka.

THE END OF THE ROAD

The founding member of Injeje YabeNguni stated that his resignation would be effective immediately. "I have detailed my reasons for my decision in an expansion letter to the MK Party President Jacob Zuma and detailed how it happened that he depleted my confidence in him," he said. In the letter, Mfeka added: "A leader I have stood by since he was first unceremoniously removed by former President [Thabo] Mbeki many years ago. Not once have I flinched or retreated in my defense of him to this very day, and this is of public knowledge." He adds that not once has he flinched or retreated in his defence.

LOST FAITH

In the letter, he stated that he is a person of principle; he will avoid going into details in the letter. "My principal has led me to this decision as I no longer have confidence that the MKP will be able to advance the revolution and was presented by President Jacob Zuma."
