Heavy hailstorm wreaks havoc in Johannesburg

Houses and vehicles were extensively damaged by heavy rains and hailstorms that ripped through Gauteng last night. The storm, which hit shortly after 6 pm on Monday came as a surprise to many after the heatwave over the weekend and sunny skies throughout yesterday.






NO INJURIES REPORTED 


Residents, mostly in Midrand shared videos and pictures of damages they suffered during the hailstorm some with shattered windscreens and dents caused byy hailstorms. Johannesburg emergency services spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi, says that there were no injuries reported and that will remain on high alert for any eventualities. "The hailstorm has been reported in areas like Pualshof, Rosebank, and Sandton, along the N1 highway, and also in Marlboro. So far, we don't have any injuries that have been reported. However, as emergency services, we remain on high alert to make sure we can respond to all incidents that might be reported," Mulaudzi said.
