Kenny Makweng has died

Gospel singer Kenny Makweng has passed away, two weeks after he was hospitalised. Makweng from Dennilton, in Limpopo, passed away on Monday at the age of 54. It was reported that the Mkhukhu musician suffered a stroke as a result of brain complications on 4 January.


His passing was confirmed by his management company KennyMak Productions in a statement this morning. "It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved gospel icon Kenny Makweng, who passed on after a short illness," the statement said. "The family humbly request the public and media to respect their privacy to deal with this difficult situation. We request that you keep his family, associates and friends in prayers," they said. The management said details about his memorial service and funeral will communicated in due course.


The ZCC gospel star who is known for songs like Lengeloi Laka, Ingwe ya mabalabala and Ke Mosione started his music career in the 90's and was part of the group called The Rock, which released more than 10 albums. The group consisted of Kenny, Mojeremane, Oleseng and Nkosana who have all passed away.
