'As people we're going through the most'

Roderick Japhta has landed a role on a series

Former Generations actor Roderick Jafta has landed a new TV role. This comes a few weeks after ZiMoja published a story that the actor is struggling to make ends meet.

NEW GIG

After an outcry that he couldn't afford to support his family, Jafta, who played Glen Majozi on Generations in the early 2000, is said to have received outpouring love. ZiMoja can reveal that Jafta has landed a role in a new upcoming Afrikaans series on Showmax. According to sources, they gave him a role, even though it is not a lead. A source at Showmax said the role was created for him after ZiMoja published an article about his dire situation. ZiMoja mentioned that he was struggling to pay R2,500 rent and also to buy food and pay for his kids' school fees and transport.

HE CONFIRMED

Called for comment, Jafta confirmed that he landed a role but refused to explain further due to contractual obligations. "How do you guys (media) know these things so fast? Yes, I can confirm that I landed a role but I can't comment further," he said. He also mentioned that ever since he granted ZiMoja an interview about his personal life, he has been receiving love from across the country. He said things are starting to look up. "The one thing I have learnt is that it honestly helps talking about your situation. It really helps. I couldn't put food on the table. As people, we going through the most in life," he concluded.
