Gauteng MEC for Human Settlements and Infrastructure Development, Lebogang Maile has achieved an impressive milestone by completing his Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree at the University of South Africa (Unisa). Maile received his degree during the graduation ceremony held at the ZK Matthews Hall in Pretoria today.
Unisa also acknowledged the politician for his achievement which he obtained through the university's College of Law. The institution said in a statement that his passion for education is evident in his track record and the impact he has had on the education system in South Africa.
"As Gauteng's MEC for Human Settlements and Infrastructure Development, Maile continues to make a meaningful contribution to the development and growth of the province," the university said.
Speaking from his celebratory party, Maile who also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from Wits, said that education is the key to personal development and the future of societies. "It unlocks opportunities and narrows inequalities." Maile also said that he is over the moon and grateful to those who stood by his side. He also acknowledges it was not an easy road to travel especially having to balance between his demanding career and studies. Maile revealed that he has always wanted to be a lawyer to help change Mzansi, outside politics. "I have always wanted to be a lawyer to contribute towards shaping our country from different angles, not only through politics," he said. He said he will be studying again next year towards his LLM. "I have already been admitted by one of the universities," He urged people including the youth to make education a cool thing and fashionable too."Education is very important to help us as a nation to find solutions to the challenges we face," he said.
