Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Katlego Mphela is not ashamed of his game after he was revealed as a car salesman for a well-known car dealership in Pretoria. He has left many people talking after a poster advertising his car salesmanship went viral on social media. After a career spanning over a decade, Mphela retired from professional soccer in 2017.

Mphela shared his new hustle in an Instagram post over the weekend. "Ladies and gentlemen, for any brand new car, please contact me and I will be happy to assist," he wrote. According to his colleagues who spoke to ZiMoja, he is a natural salesman who is passionate about helping his clients find the perfect car. "He is able to build strong relationships with customers and close deals, making him a valuable asset to the dealership," a colleague said.

According to another source, things took a turn when Mphela was no longer able to play. "He had to make other plans, unfortunately, life does not always go as planned especially for soccer players," adds the source. Another source says Mphela has kids and family to look after and that he had to come up with plan B. Before Covid-19, Mphela made money from hosting private soccer lessons for the youth but things changed when the pandemic hit. "He loves cars and he has driven the best - why not take your passion and combine it with his skill then?" asked the source. When called for comment, the former party boy refused to comment citing that he has no time for negativity. "I don't owe anyone any explanations about my life or my career," he said. Despite not commenting publicly on his new career path, it is clear that Mphela has found his calling in sales and is excelling in his new role.
