Fraud case against Faith Nketsi’s husband dismissed by court in Randburg

Faith Nketsi’s husband Nzuzo Njilo has dodged a fraud case at Randburg Magistrates Court

Suspected fraudster, Nzuzo Nkuthalo Njilo, the husband of TV star and social media content creator Faith Ntseki, has won the first round in one of his two fraud cases.

CASE DISMISSED

On Tuesday, the Randburg Magistrates’ Court dismissed Njilo’s fraud case that was opened by the owners of Lund Industries, Blaine Evans and James Stephens, for an outstanding debt of about R1 million. His two accusers claimed that they paid him for copper concentrate, which they alleged Njilo failed to deliver in August last year. Njilo’s lawyer, Ofentse Nkgwang, said they made legal representations for the withdrawal of the case based on the merits of the matter.

VICTORY BUT FAR FROM OVER

Njilo’s representations were considered by the court and were successful. But the people involved in the case did not disclose the contents of the representations. Meanwhile, Njilo, who was granted R30 000 bail by the Port Shepstone Magistrates’ Court and his mining consultant co-accused Kwanda Ntshangase was granted R3 000 bail on their first court appearance together on 28 April. They are both out on bail. Njilo and Ntshangase allegedly defrauded a businessperson during the sale of a truck in May 2021. The case was postponed to 20 June 2023 for further investigation.

HIS CASE IN KZN STILL ON

A police official close to the investigation told ZiMoja that they have a water-tight case against the two accused. "We are aware that separate fraud charges were dropped against Mr Njilo in Joburg on Monday. When they appear in court later this month, the matter is not going away. The police have a strong case against the accused. Hence the accused also have to report to their local police stations when they wish to leave the province, as part of their bail conditions," says the police informant. The bail condition for both the accused was to report to their nearest police stations twice a week and not leave the country or commit any other offences. Njilo comes from a prominent family in KwaZulu-Natal. His father, Themba Njilo, is a former Executive Mayor of Msunduzi Municipality in Pietermaritzburg. The municipality was flagged for corruption claims and his party, the ANC, recalled him from the top post in 2019. Njilo Senior. His family is known for owning several successful businesses in KZN.
