The principal of Forte Secondary School in Dobsonville in Soweto, Mokosi Mudavhi, says resilience and discipline helped them achieve their very first 100% pass mark since he joined the school in 2011.
A LONG TIME COMING
A visibly excited Mudavhi said the learners wouldn't have achieved this greatness had it not been for team effort. He explained that they had 291 learners who registered for the National Senior Certificate exams and 215 of them obtained bachelor passes. "Parents, the teachers, and learners formed a triangle, towards a similar vision and goal of making sure that all our learners pass their exams," he said. He added that in 2023, they obtained a 98% pass, so they've improved by 2%. "I've been in this school since 2011, and all the past years we've been getting around 95%, so my average is around 96%, but we've never reached 100%, which is something we've been hungry for. We've managed to break the back of the camel," he said.
OUTSTANDING RESILIENCE
Mudhavi said had it not been for discipline and commitment to passing, they wouldn't have obtained their 100%. "I cannot stress enough the importance of learners who listen to both theories from teachers and parents. We had several oral meetings, working hand in hand to ensure that all learners were up to speed and no one slacked behind. The school had many morning classes as well as afternoon ones, and I'm glad to say all the learners attended and were punctual, which was a good sight to observe," he said.
