Former Bafana Bafana coach shot during burglary at home out of ICU

Stabley Tshabalala is said to be recoverying well after being moved out of ICU

Former Bafana Bafana coach and Orlando Pirates senior official, Stanley 'Screamer' Tshabalala is out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Tshabalala spent over a month in ICU after he was shot by intruders at his Centurion, Tshwane home on March 20. At the time, the police suspected a burglary.

STILL IN PAIN

ZiMoja has learnt that Tshabalala (75) who is the father of the late kwaito legend Tokollo "Magesh" Tshabalala of TKZee fame and former BGM record executive, Busi Tshabalala, has since recovered from last month's shooting incident. According to a source close to the family, he came out of the ICU early this week and he is now able to breathe properly and talk. "He is still in pain, but the family is grateful for the progress," adds the source. The source says although the family was worried about his recovery, they never lost hope. "His family has been on his side ever since the incident," adds the source.

WAS IT A HIT?

Another source says the family does not want to talk about his recovery or to give an update on his health as it is still not clear if the shooting was really a burglary or an attempt on his life. "Remember no arrests have been made yet and the incident happened more than a month ago, so the family is trying to protect him until they know what the motive behind the shooting was," the source said. When called for comment, the soccer legend's daughter Dineo Tshababala said the family was not ready to give an update on his health yet. " The family will give an update on his health when the time is right," she said. No arrests have been made in his shooting yet.
