The South African National Civics Organisation (SANCO) in KwaZulu Natal has resolved that it had no basis for charging its provincial chair former President Jacob Zuma for associating with the Umkhonto Wesizwe Party. This comes after Zuma announced the formation of his party on Saturday and that he was not going to campaign for the ANC in the upcoming elections
Sanco's decision means that Zuma will keep his position as chairperson in KZN. Provincial secretary,Sizwe Cele, said as much as they share Zuma's sentiment on ANC's failures under Ramaphosa's leadership, they do not share the same view. "As Sanco KZN, we also believe that the people of South Africa must vote for the ANC. We don't share the same view as the provincial chairperson of Sanco that the people of South Africa must vote for the MK party, " said Cele, adding that SANCO has members from various political parties.
He further confirmed that Sanco will campaign for the ANC as per their conference resolution. "The Umkhonto Wesizwe members were promised houses and free houses but now they are being chased out. He said they have had enough of bullying from KZN ANC secretary Bheki Mtolo and chairperson Sboniso Duma. As Sanco KZN we are going to mobilise and march against Duma and Mtolo and chase them out of the ANC Provincial office if they don't change their attitude," Cele said. "All we are getting is Comrade Mtolo attacking those who are on TV and social media while KZN is bleeding. Reality is the MK soldiers are joining the MK Party because they are suffering," said Cele.
