She is rehearsing daily in front of the mirror for her TV debut on the 23rd of October. Former Miss SA, Miss Supranational 2022 and brand ambassador Lalela Mswane is putting her beauty-queen crown on the side and venturing into TV as the presenter of the talk show Daily Thetha.
DOING WHAT SHE LOVES
She has always had an interest in TV presenting. Like the many hopefuls, she joined the audition queue for the job. "I attended an audition that was held at TMF studios earlier in the year and in August I was notified of my appointment to the show," she says. "I've always had an interest in television hosting, but it was always that aspiration that not many people were aware of so I'm very excited for this new chapter."
A NEW CHAPTER
She is a global ambassador for the Miss Supranational organisation who traveled worldwide on behalf of the organisation and promoted various charitable causes in the countries visited. Lalela says that exploring different career ventures is to break the major misconception that women in pageants are "vapid, dull-witted, possess nothing else but physical beauty," she says. She describes this chapter in her life as growth. "I get to branch out and establish myself in a field that I've only ever dreamt of. This chapter means growth and I hope that it can only lead to more doors opening in my favour," she says. "With this new chapter, I hope to bring a fresh perspective to the show and to facilitate educational and inspiring conversations that build our nation."
FAME
Being in the public eye has its challenges where you are constantly being watched and judged for your actions. "I'm naturally a very private person, so I find it quite difficult to open up and give outside people a deeper perspective into my life," she says. "Another challenge I have is that people forget that we too, are human beings, have flaws like everyone, so you're not always going to get the best version of me, especially when provoked. But I absolutely love moments when I get to connect with different people, I'm such a people's person so interacting with people who genuinely love me always brings me joy." With the new venture, she hopes to do more humanitarian work with the Lalela Foundation and also pursue some aspirational goals.
