Former Mamelodi Sundowns player Tiyani Mabunda has taken another journey in his life. He is now a pastor at the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG).
CONTROVERSIAL PROPHET
The church belongs to Malawian Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, who ran away from the long arm of the law following charges of corruption, money laundering and racketeering. A video surfaced of Mabunda where he ministering to the church during the Easter weekend. In the video posted on social media, Mabunda is seen singing, dancing and preaching and getting different reactions from his followers. Pastor Nokuthula N Sunday, from the Gods Witness Cathedral Church, was the first in line to defend the soccer champ and applauded the journey which Mabunda has taken.
DIFFERENT VIEWS
Pastor Nokuthula further said she believed in Mabunda's teachings and faith. "At least he did not end up broken and in taverns and clubs like other players. He is shining. Tiyani Mabunda is a great man of God and highly anointed too. I have sat under his teachings, wow! amazing grace. I don't think he is continuing with the work of Prophet Shepherd Bushiri but the work of God. Salvation is a personal journey. We don't serve man but God. He is pastoring ECG at Solution Centre very well..." she wrote.
Another reaction from a social media user, Sammy Murry, said, "He looks like he can bring someone back from the dead."
While another user ,Stax Makgalemele, said, "Honestly did not know he is anointed as Bushiri's henchman. Highly disappointed and wholly disapproving."
Evangelist Khensani Shivuri also defended Mabunda and said, "I am so proud of him. There are few soccer players who are interested in doing the work of God. At this point I don't care about the name of the church."
Attempts to get comment from Mabunda proved fruitless as his phone rang unanswered and text messages sent to him were ignored.
