Former Bafana Bafana player, Thandani 'Bibo' Ntshumayelo briefly appeared at the Randburg Magistrate's Court today following a case of assault opened in February.
Bibo (33) was arrested on 3 February after allegedly assaulting his long-term girlfriend, Itumeleng Alice, during an altercation at his home. Itumeleng said she was trying to stop a fight between him and his friend when he allegedly attacked her. He was arrested and granted R1 000 bail. The National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane said at the time. "Ntshumayelo became aggressive towards the complainant and allegedly slapped her across the face, grabbed her by her head and hit it against the wall." She further alleged that he then pushed her to the ground, Bibo was arrested and released on bail.
Today, he made an appearance at the Randburg Magistrate's Court and his case was postponed pending further investigation. Bibo made his first appearance on 5 February 2024. With the case postponed, he will appear in court again on 21 May 2024. A few years ago, Bibo, tested positive for cocaine and was handed a suspension by the South African Institute for Drug Free Sport. He was found guilty of an anti-doping violation in August 2016.
