Floyd Shivambu, the Economic Freedom Frighter's (EFF) Deputy President, has showed the true meaning of "making education fashionable".
This week, on Tuesday, he was conferred with a Master of Science degree in International Development from the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies.
EXPANDING UNDERSTANDING
His organisation is always encouraging the youth to take education seriously. Shivambu took to social media to share his achievement.
He only shared the good news with social media users on Thursday and wrote: ?I had the honour of being awarded a MSc in International Development degree by the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies," he said. He said he was honoured to be part an alumni that was attended by political activist Guyana Walter Rodney and Ethiopian politician, Arkebe Oqubay.
?The journey was worth it and expanded our understanding of what is to be done,? he added.
Shivambu received his first Masters degree in Political Science from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2014.
His research topic focused on China and Africa's economic relations, with his dissertation on South Africa's negotiated transition to an inclusive political system.
A HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS
Meanwhile, his colleague at EFF, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, who also attained a Doctorate a few years ago, congratulated Shivambu.
He wrote on his X account: "Congratulations DP @FloydShivambu on attainment of your Masters Degree from University of London. You continue to inspire us in making education fashionable." But media personality, Penuel The Black Pen was not so impressed with Shivambu?s achievements.
He wrote: "I still don?t understand why the EFF celebrates graduating from colonial institutions while badmouthing colonialism in the same breath.
Them getting educated and acquiring knowledge is really great... celebrating graduating from colonial institutions on platforms is weird."
