Five people including a child have been shot dead at a farm in Nancefield, Soweto. It's alleged that seven gunmen stormed the farm and demanded money and a herd of cattle from the farm on Monday.

A CHILD AMONG THOSE FATALLY SHOT

According to the police, employees at the Peter Farm were sleeping at the farm when they heard dogs barking uncontrollably on Monday night. Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Noxolo Kweza said upon checking, they were confronted by unknown heavily armed men who then ransacked the place before demanding money from the employees. "They then started shooting randomly, killing five people including a six-year-old child. Four people are currently admitted in hospital for medical assistance," said Kweza. She added that Eldorado Park police are investigating five murder dockets and four attempted murders following the incident.

OLICE HUNTING FOR SUSPECTS

Kweza further said the suspects also shot and killed two horses, a donkey and a cow. "The motive for the killings will be determined by investigation. These cases have been allocated to the provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Investigation Unit," she said. The police are also appealing to anyone who might have information on the matter to come forward and call the Crime Stop number 08600 10111.
