Nqobile Ndlovu and her lover Mthunzi Zulu who stand accused of murdering and mutilating two boys from White City, Soweto, appeared at the Protea Magistrates court today. Wearing a bright yellow floral dress, sandals and spectacles with fresh corn rows, Ndlovu, who is the grandmother to one of the murdered boys, seemed to have lost some weight. Her lover and co-accused wore a blue, green and purple striped and blue t-shirt and grey track pants with black and white sneakers.
Nqobizitha Zulu's father, Zolile Zondo, told ZiMoja that he was finding it difficult to heal from his loss especially because he was not there when his son was buried. He was in jail. "It's a daily struggle for me. I'm pained and angered by the brutality my little boy endured in my absence. Everyone in my family keeps telling me that my son wouldn't have died if I was there because he used to follow me everywhere. It's unfortunate that I was in prison because his mother had opened a false case against me which I don't want to get into right now," said Zondo. He added that he hopes the law takes its full might because he doesn't mind going back to prison in vengeance for his son. "I got an update that Nqobile confessed to the murders and claims that her lover wasn't involved, meaning that she wants Mthunzi to be released. All I'm saying is that he's probably safer where he is than on the outside. He can't kill my son and walk, never," he said.
The matter was postponed to April awaiting DNA results and the court will decide whether the matter is ready to go to the High Court for trial or not. "Your worship we are waiting for the DNA results to be obtained which were extracted from Zulu to determine whether or not he is linked to the crime since his co-accused claims that she was solely responsible for them, "said the state. The pair face two counts of murder related to the killings of Nqobizitha Zulu (5) and Tshiamo Rabanye (6). The pair is also charged with kidnapping, perjury and defeating the ends of justice. They were arrested in May last year in connection to the brutal killings of the two boys after they were found dead and their bodies mutilated a day after they went missing.
