He celebrated his birthday yesterday with loved ones, close friends and family at a lavish All-black themed gathering. Former Black Motion member and now independent, DJ Bongani "Morda" Mohosana has a lot to celebrate after his solo project Asante featuring the likes of Oscar Mbo, Murumba Pitch, Brenden Praise, Focalistic, and Azana did well on the charts.
Hosted by Nomuzi "Moozlie" Mabena, the gathering was attended by the likes of Pearl Thusi, Oscar Mbo, and Q from Distruction Boyz. Morda’s wife DJ Zinhle during the speech recalled how the two met and performed for the first time in front of Morda.
A LETTER TO HIMSELF
The Mohigan Sun artist penned a heartfelt letter to himself on his 36th birthday. "Ok ok ok Morda, we did it bra, we here, we have so much to be thankful for and so much to cry over but today we need to sit in a corner and say a small prayer, we have to thank God for protecting us through everything, for blessing us with a beautiful family and career, for giving us strength when we are so tired we can’t even stand to play with our kids," he says. "Life is good bra, make sure you don’t mess it up, and don’t change for anyone. We are Morda we play hard and love harder. We are not to be messed with because we are protected by the Almighty. Let the world know we are here now and forever. Happy birthday brother, it’s on you now."
MAKING MUSIC
In May last year, Black Motion announced that Morda had left the group and was replaced by Problem Child. He then celebrated the launch of his solo career by releasing his 10-track project titled Asante, named after his daughter with DJ Zinhle. "One year later from the birth of Morda. It’s been a crazy ride but I didn’t do it alone. Thank you to everyone who embraced the change. I’m inspired to do more."
