Failed Burna Boy concert investor won't stop investing in Mzansi

Gregory Wings says he will continue investing in SA

After Burna Boy's failed concert last years, US based investor Gregory Wings says he won't stop investing in SA. The Burna Boy concert that was set to take place in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town in September last year was cancelled and Wings, who invested millions of R`ands in the event, was arrested for fraud but the charges were later dropped.

HE OPENED A CASE AGAINST HIS BUSINESS PARTNER

After being cleared by the court in November last year, Wings opened a case against his business partner and Ternary Media Group CEO, Sedote Nwachuku, who allegedly defrauded him of more than R10 million and fled the country. In an exclusive interview with ZiMoja, Wings poured his heart out about his arrest and the impact it had on him. He said his other business partners and Sedote are solely responsible for the mess and the failure of the much-anticipated Burna Boy concert. "I am elated and relieved to be vindicated of all fraud charges. However, my pursuit for justice does not end here. I am determined to ensure that all perpetrators involved are not only arrested but also held accountable through legal action. I suffered a lot when I was detained for a good seven days. I lost money as my accounts had to be frozen because of the charges I was facing," he said. Wings said he was suing Ticket Pro, First National Bank, PR companies Cake Media and Khaya PR for defamation, extortion and loss of income while his bank accounts were frozen after his arrest.

STILL COMMITTED TO INVESTING IN AFRICAN TALENT

Despite his arrest, Wings expressed his commitment to investing in South Africa. He stated that he is determined to contribute to the growth and prosperity of the country through strategic and impactful investments. He said he is still working on rebuilding his reputation and credibility because he trusted a wrong person. He also added that it will take a while for him trust people again. Wings also expressed disappointment in the investment landscape due to the numerous scams that have targeted him. "These deceitful actions undermine trust and tarnish the investment landscape, impacting not only individuals but also the broader economy of South Africa but I have faith in the country and will still invest in the youth by bringing international artists this side and taking local artists abroad " he said.
