An alleged drunk police officer who was off duty has been arrested for knocking down a female biker with his private car. In a video that circulated on social media, the cop in full uniform is seen being dragged by his pants by community members who witnessed the accident. The incident happened in Proclamation, Pretoria West on Sunday.

The visibly drunk police officer was dragged around and pinned to the back of a silver car after he allegedly tried to flee the scene following the accident. In the same clip, his victim laid helplessly on the road with her bike far from her. The woman in a black biker jacket was surrounded by bystanders who feared touching her before an ambulance arrived in case, she had broken bones. "We have noted with disappointment the video circulating on social media, where a drunk off-duty member in uniform hit a civilian with his private vehicle, "said SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi.
NOT ACCEPTABLE
Gauteng Police commissioner Lt-General Elias Mawela condemned the incident. "A criminal case of drunk driving and an internal case in terms of the disciplinary regulations are instituted against the member and he will face the consequences of his actions," said Mawela.
