Although Dr Nandipha Magudumana's defence Machini Motloung attempted to convince the court that she will not evade trial should she be released on bail, the court emphasised that it's of the view that she has reason to flee as she has done so before. After Dr Nandipha's bid to get bail failed, her defence said they were, "still engaging a mapping exercise reflecting on reasons given by the court," to deny Dr Nandipha bail.
Motloung said after the mapping exercise,it is then that they will plan their next move. "After that, we will be in a position to plot a way forward in terms of the outcomes brought forward by the court." Asked on his views about Dr Nandipha being a flight risk, he said they have to respect the court's decision. "We have our own reservations and have to respect the courts. However, we are not in agreement with this decision or reasoning as we are off a different view. Like I said, we are going through the judgment in its entirety and we will be in a position to do a mapping excercise to know what the next step is," Motloung said.
Motloung added that they are not ruling out the possibility of appealing the court's judgment. "At this point we are obviously dismayed but we are not despondent,"he said.
