Members of a notorious group called Isikebhe, a vigilante group, allegedly broke into the home of former Ukhozi FM radio presenter Sbu Buthelezi and nabbed him for allegedly swindling Gcinumuzi Msibi of R600 000.

FAILED INVESTMENT

ZiMoja reported in January that one of the investors, Msibi, from Nquthu in KwaZulu Natal (KZN) allegedly invested in the former presenter’s poultry investment scheme. The investors were to sell chickens and eggs, promising 100 percent returns after three months. Msibi told ZiMoja that he had approached Isikebhe to help his family of 11 to get their money from Buthelezi as he had been avoiding them since 2022. "I am happy that Isikebhe managed to go get him because it seems as if the Buthelezi family was hiding him. All we want is our money back. I don’t care if Isikebhe gives him a good beating for all the crimes he has committed. That man deserves everything that is happening to him. We took our money and invested it in his company hoping that we were going to make money in the poultry business," he said.

PAY BACK THE MONEY

A meeting was held between Msibi and the Buthelezi family where they promised Isikebhe members that he was going to pay back the money. "All I know is that the group went to his place and found him at home hiding in one of the rooms. We suspect that his family has been hiding him for months because he is no longer staying at his Durban’s Umhlanga Rocks place. They have been hiding from all the people that he owes money. I am meeting with Isikebhe group and get an update on what is happening with my matter," he said. The forum’s deputy chairperson Zakhele Mncube confirmed the incident. "We were forced to go to Nquthu where we found him hiding inside his parent’s home. They were hiding him and that is why we had to remove the burglars in order to get him. He promised to pay half of the money by month end and promised to settle the rest by August. Sbu told us that he did not have cars to give the family as assurance. He claimed to have lost everything and that he was down and out," he said.
