Teenager accused of burning father with boiling water to appear in court today

Chatsworth Magistrates Court to hear case of teenage girl scalding father

A grade 12 learner accused of burning her father with boiling water is set to make an appearance before the Chatsworth Magistrates Court today. The teenager who cannot be named allegedly burnt her father on the head and face with boiling water last week Wednesday after her father, Simiso Ngidi, scolded at her for neglecting her household chores.

SCOLDED

According to Ngidi, from Chatsworth outside Durban in KwaZulu Natal, he came back from work after being away for a few weeks as his job requires him to travel all the time and found the house dirty and with no cooked food. "My daughter stays with my mother full time and when I found the house dirty, I asked why she did not clean and she said she was tired of cleaning and cooking for other people," Ngidi said, adding that afterwards, his daughter went into the neighbour's house where she asked them to boil water for her as she wanted to make tea. "My neighbour told me that she hinted to them that she was going to teach me a lesson. When they asked her why, she told them that she was too tired to cook for me and my mother," he said.

Ngidi said he was sitting outside with his friend having beer when his daughter came back with a kettle full of boiling water but he did not pay attention to her. "The next thing I heard was my friend shouting at my daughter as she was pouring boiled water on my head. I woke up in hospital and I was told that I was burnt with hot water. I have been discharged but still in a lot of pain.

I WANT HER IN JAIL

Ngidi said he did not want to press charges against his daughter but that he was forced to do so after she told the neighbours that she was going to finish him off. "That's when I decided to open an attempted murder case. Honestly speaking I never thought that my daughter would try and kill me. All he wanted was for her to grow up with values," Ngidi said that he would rejoice if the court could find his daughter guilty of her act. "I cannot be calling someone who wants to kill me. She must pay for what she did," he said.
