Since the passing of R. Mashesha and Mampintsha, members of the award-winning group Big Nuz, it seems like the Kwaito and Gqom outfit is in danger of extinction. The remaining member of the group, Danger, real name Mzingisi Tshomela, is not happy at Afrotainment.
READY TO START ALL OVER AGAIN
Sources close to the situation said Danger has been unhappy at Afrotainement since the passing of his two fellow members, Mandla 'Mampimtha' Maphumulo, who died two years ago, and R-Mashesha, real name Sibusiso Khumo, who died in 2015. Afrotainment is owned by Mthokozi "DJ Tira' Khathi. To keep the group alive, Danger has been performing with fellow Kwaito singer, Bhar, a co-founder of Big Nuz. But according to sources, things are not going the way Danger had hoped at Afrotainment and wants out.
FEELING LOST
The source said Danger seems like a lost sheep since his fellow bandmates died. "He asked DJ Tira to release him from his contract," said the source. According to another source, their relationship is strained and Danger is not happy. The source said: "It does not seem like DJ Tira is interested in Big Nuz anymore without the other members who are no more. The group brought a lot of money to Afrotainment since the 2009 album Undisputed with the hit songs Umlilo and Superman. "Today DJ Tira has forgotten about all that. He doesn't have time for Danger because the outspoken member, Mampintsha, is no more." The source added that Danger has been recording with different upcoming Gqom artists to try and revive his career. "It's not like DJ Tira has not done anything for Danger. In 2018, DJ Tira featured in Danger's solo project Dangerous, but the song was not well received by the fans of Big Nuz," said the source.
STILL MAKING MUSIC
Danger has not given up on making it as a solo artist either. The source explained, "He has been recording with some unknown artists. The man is frustrated that he doesn't know what to do anymore. He needs to make money and there are no gigs coming in. He has a family to support but it's tough for Danger." Danger refused to comment on the matter. DJ Tira ignored our calls and WhatsApp messages sent to him.
