He is on the road to recovery after suffering a stroke just a day before his birthday celebration in July last year. Award-winning rapper and producer Leslie 'Da L.E.S.' Mampe has left South Africa for the US to recover in the care of his mother, Priscillar Mampe.
THE STROKE
The All Eyes On Me rapper suffered a stroke, which affected his mobility, and spent over a month in the hospital. After being discharged from the hospital, he spent time at his Johannesburg home, which was reportedly on the market to be sold. He has since moved to his place of birth in Washington, D.C., in the United States of America. According to a close family friend, his mom has been living there for years. "Leslie was born in the US; he often visited his mom, so it's not unfamiliar territory," the friend says. "His mom took him with her, so she is present in his recovery, and he can get better medical care."
SUPPORT
Before relocating, his close friends and industry acquaintances, L-Tido, Cassper, and Pastor Kabelo Mabalane, paid him a visit to wish him well and show their support. A friend present on the day said Kabelo welcomed the friends with a prayer. "We had a prayer for his recovery; he is doing very well, and we can't wait to have him up and back in the game again,' the friend said. "He is grateful to be alive, to see another day, and so are we."
