The family of rapper Leslie "Da L.E.S' Mampe is devastated after he suffered a stroke on Friday evening. He is currently recovering at a Johannesburg hospital. The Heaven rapper's close friends have asked to assist the family in raising funds for his medical bills.

DONATIONS

In a note sent out to close friends, Da L.E.S's friends said his mom, Priscilla Mampe, would appreciate assistance and the act of kindness in raising funds for his medical bills. "Hi Friends, as support to Leslie's family while Les is in hospital, we are encouraging friends to assist in kind to Leslie's mother's account below,' the note said and included her banking details. The Mampe family has confirmed that Da L.E.S is making improvements to his health. "Whilst he is in a stable condition, this remains a challenging time for his loved ones and his family calls on the public to keep him in their thoughts and prayers as they navigate this difficult period,' his family said.

ENROUTE

His mother is currently en route to South Africa from the USA, where she is based. A close family friend said the mom of two sons is devastated by her son's unexpected health issues. "She is not okay; I just want us to keep his family in her prayers. She is devastated," the friend said. Da L.E.S's father, Leslie Jonathan Mampe Senior, died in 2021 after a short illness. Da L.E.S shared after his father's funeral that the burial was a way to celebrate his life, and he is grateful to have learned invaluable life lessons from him. "I'm so grateful for what I've learned and for my biggest fan becoming my guardian angel,' he wrote. The rapper recently opened a restaurant in Sandton. Da L.E.S's mother had not responded to Zimoja by the time of publication as she was in a flight back to South Africa.
