DJ Tira loses all in a burglary at Afrotainment

DJ Tira has offered a R20k reward for information on robbery at his studio

Popular music producer and businessman DJ Tira is counting major losses after thieves broke into his Durban studios on Wednesday night. The thieves made off with music expensive instruments, sound system and speakers worth more than a million.


MAJOR LOSS FOR DJ TIRA


According to the office manager Samkelo Mpisane, the thieves broke into the studio at night. He said they gained entry after breaking the gate into the stand-alone house which is used as the studio. "They took everything - you can tell that they have been planning this robbery," he added. 

Samkelo said the damage is more than just monetary value. He said even Afrotainment artists like Bulo and Dladla Mshunqisi lost their unreleased music which was stored on the hard drives and laptops.He said the break-in has set their plans back. "We had so many things planned and this has set us back big time," he added.


THERE IS A R20 000 REWARD 


The DJ has also offered a reward for anyone who will come forward with information that will lead to the arrest of the thieves and the successful return of the instruments stolen. Tira said he is willing to pay anyone with information R20 000 just to recover his equipment. When the incident occurred on Wednesday night, DJ Tira was at the Maboneng Precinct, in Joburg. When called for comment a broken Tira told ZiMoja that he is heartbroken and hoping that police and community can help. He said what breaks his heart even more is the fact that his artists are affected by the robbery. "What hurts the most is the fact we lost music and some of our artists were preparing to release their albums soon and all their efforts are gone just like that," he added.


THEY KNEW TIRA WAS NOT AROUND


According to a source close to the situation cameras were not working on the time break in. The source told ZiMoja that Tira and his team suspect that the thieves knew that cameras were not working hence they took advantage of the situation. "No stranger can jump and break a gate, these are the people who know Tira's whereabouts and the fact that cameras were not working," added the source. Another source said Tira has already involved private investigators because he had spent so much building his company, from buying expensive equipment and turning his old home into his studio.
