DJ Tira has joined a horde of local celebrities who put their lives in the public eye through a reality show. DJ Tira, real name Mthokozisi Khathi, his wife Gugu Khathi and their children will star in the show.
A LUCRATIVE BRAND
According to sources close to the star, the ever-stylish couple have secretly started shooting their show. The source adds that the couple was convinced by a good offer they couldn't resist. "Tira is a profitable brand he wouldn't just agree to nothing unless it makes businesses sense to him, so you can imagine how much they got. Gugu is also a star in her own right and has been famous since she was a teen," adds the source. He will feature his family, his rise in the music industry when he worked closely with DJ Sox as Durban's Finest and teaming up with Kalawa Jazzmee to make Durban music popular. According to the source, the hitmaker has good content which includes how he formed his record label, Afro Entertainment, and dominated the music industry with artists like Big Nuz more than a decade ago. The couple signed a watertight contract and none disclosure agreement, according to the source.
CONTROVERSY
Even though he's become a family man, married to former Mafikizolo dancer, Gugu, DJ Tira had a fair share of controversy in the love stakes. He was once married to Lale Ngcobo and their marriage ended in a painful divorce after two years. The nuptials for the 47-year-old producer ended with allegations of witchcraft allegedly by the former wife. It remains to be seen if the reality show will cover his previous marriage. In his current marriage, there have been allegations of Gugu, originally from Kagiso in Gauteng, cheating on the DJ. The matter even saw Gugu taking his accusers to court and threatening to sue them. The award-winning DJ Tira is credited for putting KZN artists on the international map and helping to uncover new talent. At some point he owned a popular nightclub, Afro Fashion Lounge in Morningside, Durban. Tira could not be reached for comment while his wife,Gugu, refused to comment.
