They make up one of the longest-standing duos. The Kings of The Weekend have been DJing, producing music, and working on radio for as long as they can remember. DJ Naves and SPHEctacula hosted a show on Gagasi FM before moving to Metro FM. Now DJ Naves, real name Lebogang Naves bids the radio station goodbye.

GOODBYE

New radio host season usually starts in April, when SABC reshuffles and adjusts time slots for radio hosts. DJ Naves leaves the station before the big changes. "Looking back on my time at Metro FM, I've had the privileged chance to be part of some great shows like Rhyme & Reason, The Party, The Kings Suite, and Kings Of The Weekend." He says it's been such an awesome journey of growth over the years. "As the legendary TBose once said, 'The best radio education is from the SABC.' If you've been there, there's nothing you can't handle." I'm really grateful for that," he says. "Big thanks to Metro FM for that amazing journey. Change is always there and it's time.

NOT AFRAID

Naves says he is ready for change. "I'm not scared of it. It's a new start, a chance to learn, and a time to create on a fresh slate. My chapter at Metro FM ends on January 27, 2024. I'm so thankful for the experiences, opportunities, and incredible people I've worked with, some of whom have become lifelong friends." Without disclosing his next move, business venture or whether Sphe will be leaving with him, Naves is excited to start afresh. "I'm pumped for the next adventure and the next parts of the #KOTW journey that I'll soon share with you."
