According to sources close to the situation, Sodlaka left the show due to financial disagreements. ZiMoja has learnt that the actress was not satisfied with the pay she was receiving and despite numerous attempts to renegotiate her contract, she was unable to reach an agreement with the show's producers.

Additionally, it is believed that Sodlaka felt that she was carrying the show and that her contribution was not being adequately recognised. As one of the show's leading actresses, Sodlaka had been instrumental in driving the show's success. According to a source Sodlaka was also helping behind the scenes. Producers were frustrated because they did not have a backup and were left confused whether to replace her or kill her character. "They left her storyline hanging, no one knows what to do with her character and they can't replace her to avoid upsetting her fans," adds the source.
