It's Me O! Lord

Cassper Nyovest is one of the celebs who have shared their religious and spiritual journeys

More celebrities are opening up about their spiritual and religious journeys. This year, the likes of Candice Modiselle, Cassper Nyovest, Ntobeko Sishi, and Black Coffee shared how they got baptised and accepted Christ in their lives.

NTOBEKO SISHI

Actor and musician Ntobeko Sishi started his Christian journey after being baptised. He shared in a post on social media saying he publicly declared his life to "The Lord, The Lord, the Compassionate and Gracious God" he said. "I once feared Him as a merciless fascist, so guilty, ashamed and insecure in myself that I thought I'd never be enough to stand in His presence or to even allow myself to live. It's great to know that even though those feelings are valid, it is in my very weakness that Christ reaches out and His power is made perfect," Ntobeko added.

"I tried self-esteem, tried therapy and even though those things have a place, nothing really gave me belonging. Only through His sacrifice am I enough, more than good enough." He said his mission as an artist has always been to tell his story with the hope that those who feel the same way will know that they're not alone. "I struggled with belonging all my life and now it's evident to me that we all belong to a purpose much greater than we think. We're loved and cherished in a way we'll never fully understand, so run to Him. There's true joy here. Right here is where I belong. I'm not alone and neither are you. I love you and God bless you."

BLACK COFFEE

Grammy Award-winning producer and DJ Black Coffee recently went back to church to revive his spirituality after a tragic flight accident. Black Coffee attended Grace Bible Church where he gave his life to the Lord. He opened up about how he had to undergo a five-hour-long surgery to treat his injuries. "I was listening to a gospel album through my headphones and took a nap then I woke up to something that felt like a dream,or a nightmare, and the plane was shaking violently," he said. "So, I have metal holding onto my spinal cord now. I'm half man, half machine." After the accident, Black Coffee reached out to musician and pastor, Kabelo Mabalane."What a beautiful, blessed man. He gave me a perspective of life and faith that I never knew existed."

CASSPER NYOVEST

Rapper Cassper Nyovest, real name Refiloe Phoolo said his life has changed since going back to church. "Cassper called close family and friends to his home for a thanksgiving celebration for his "new life and our ancestors who walked the journey with Christ. A journey we are still walking in," he said. "Remembering and celebrating the prayers and covenants our ancestors made with Jesus our Lord and Saviour. What a privilege it is to be a walking and breathing prayer. I came here with prayer." Cassper said he went through a spiritual journey and reset his life after realising what life is and his purpose in life. "I'm not ashamed to say that my soul was washed by the blood of Jesus. I will tell you the beautiful story of my testimony of how I ended up having an encounter with God," he added. "I don't hear people saying I'm excited seeking God's face, which is the most important thing because we are spiritual beings and unfortunately it seems like we only see blessings as money, power, and fame."
