Burna Boy'ss South African based promoter Gregory Jerome Wings Jr. has applied for a protection order against his former business partner and politician, Abraham Radebe. In the application seen by ZiMoja, the 42-year-old businessman, who said he is fearing for his life, claims that Radebe wants to get him kidnapped so he can extort money from him.
HE STOLE FROM THEIR COMPANY
The problems between the former business partners started after the much-publicised Burna Boy concert in September which failed. Wings has blamed a few of his business partners for the failure, including another businessman Ternary Media Group CEO, Sedote Nwachukwu, whom he says stole millions from him. He has since opened fraud cases against them. Wings said Radebe told him that," he is very powerful and has ANC members that can harm me and my family". According to the protection order filed by Wings on February 27, he said Radebe stole R7.5 million from him. In the affidavit, he said: "I discovered he stole R7.45m from our business. He has been making threats towards me and harassing my customers and business partners by making up lies about me being a criminal. He has harassed me by text, phone, email and social media," he said in the affidavit supporting his application.
HE PAID PEOPLE TO OPEN FAKE CASES AGAINST HIM
Wings also said that Radebe recently tried to pay someone R50 000 to file a fake criminal case against him. He added: "I opened a case against him on Feb.13, 2024 at the Midrand Police Station. That when he offered two people R50k to open a fake case against me saying that I owe him R6 million. He offered the same people money to have me kidnapped and extort money from me. He offered them 20% of whatever they can take from me. He has also contacted the media to try to get them to make up fake stories about me and my reputation," he added. In the protection order application, Wings wants the court to prohibit Radebe from contacting his business associates and telling them lies about him, he must not be allowed to contact him or anyone he knows and not be allowed to contact him or comment on him on social media or to the media. Wings also said the person affected by Radebe's threats are his 29-year-old wife, Britney Wings. Radebe could not be reached for a comment. The court has ordered Radebe to appear at the Randburg Magistrates Court in two weeks to respond to the application.
