He is currently serving a 15-year sentence for raping his 16-year-old nephew in 2013. Kwaito singer Sipho "Brickz' Ndlovu has been behind bars at the Leeuwkop Maximum Prison doing time since 2017. The Andapende singer used this time to get rehabilitated, joined the prison choir as a singer and preacher, and also studied.
REHABILITATING
Serving his time, Brickz has been studying a course in marketing management and recently graduated while behind bars from Boston City Campus graduation. A friend who frequents the rehabilitated convict said: "He has truly turned a new leaf; he found God and is on a righteous path. Not a lot of inmates focus on their goals; others become worse criminals behind bars, but Brickz has truly changed,' the friend said.
A PROUD SON
Brickz's son, who is a DJ, Gugulethu Cleopas Ndlovu (18), says he couldn't be prouder of his dad. "He is inspiring; no one is perfect,' Gugulethu said, adding that he visits his dad in jail at least twice a month. "He is a positive thinker and speaks of only good things," Gugulethu said. Like his father, he is passionate about music, despite his dad advising him to also explore other career choices. "My musical gene comes from him, and I can't ignore it,' he added. Brickz, currently serving a 15-year sentence, will be considered for parole once he has completed at least half of his sentence.
