Media darling, Bonang Matheba made history when she became South Africa's first ambassador for Revlon. After the big deal, she hasn't stopped winning, she became an ambassador for shoe brand Ipanema, Nivea and recently, Steve Maddon. A source has revealed to ZiMoja that Bonang is in the process of replacing Thuso Mbedu as the brand ambassador for L'Oréal.
MONEY MOVES
Last year, Thuso Mbedu was announced as L'Oréal's first Black brand ambassador for sub-Saharan Africa. This was revealed in the series, titled "Because I'm Worth It," designed to empower women. The series has in the past seen contributions from US icons, Viola Davis, Kate Winslet, Helen Mirren and Kendall Jenner. "We are thrilled to announce the talented South African actress Thuso Mbedu as a new brand ambassador and spokesperson for L'Oréal Paris in the Sub-Saharan Africa region. In addition to her successful international acting career, Thuso is passionate about empowering women and girls by providing them with educational resources alongside the non-profit organisation Save The Children," L'Oréal announced at the time. The source tells ZiMoja that Bonang and her team pitched to the international brand and they could not resist. "She knows her story. She gave a very impressive pitch. She will be starting to shoot for the brand over the next coming weekend and has been travelling with them." adds the source.
PLEASANT
It has barely been a year since Thuso has been ambassador. The source says Thuso has not yet been informed about the ambassadorship. "They are introducing Bonang as a digital ambassador and I am not sure what will happen with Thuso as her contract has not ended." The source says Bonang and Thuso are cordial. "They are not besties, but they are not enemies." Last year, Bonang and Thuso made their debut on the runway at the prestigious Le Défilé L'Oréal Paris in the City. Both Thuso and Bonang could not be reached for comment.
