The passing of Big Nuz’s founding member Mandla ’Mampintsha’ Maphumulo seems to have brought back the original Big Nuz members together. ZiMoja reported that after Mamphintsha’s death, DJ Tira approached muso Sifiso Mshengu known as Bhar, one of the first founding members of the popular award-winning group to resurrect the group.
THE PAIR HAVE NOT BEEN GETTING ALONG FOR A WHILE
it seems like Mampintsha‘a death has brought the group together. Big Nuz was formed in 2002 in Umlazi, south of Durban, by four childhood friends - the late Mampintsha, the late R Mashesha, Danger, and Bhar. The group has made a name for itself with hit songs like Umlilo and Serious. Bhar, real name Sfiso Mshengu, left the group while it was still trying to secure a recording deal in Joburg in the early 2000s. First, the group lost R Mashesha, whose real name is Sibusiso Khomo in 2015 from a reported throat surgery complication. He was followed by Mampintsha who died in December last year after suffering a stroke.
SEEN ON STAGE LAST WEEKEND
The remaining duo - Danger and Bhar - performed during Miss during Cetshwayo in Richards Bay, KZN, this past weekend. According to eyewitnesses, they delivered a stellar performance at the event. But according to a source, there are still issues that remain between Bhar and DJ Tira but the pair have been performing regardless. Another source disputes this and says there are no longer issues between the three. The source adds that DJ Tira, Danger, and Bhar are currently working on a summer banger album. They are even planning a launch of the album already. "They sat down and resolved their issues. I know for sure that they are secretly working on an album which they are aiming to drop around Spring," said the source.
TIRA WANTS TO RE-LAUNCH THE GROUP
According to the source, DJ Tira wants to go all out in the spirit of the late Mampintsha. "With DJ Tira, you either go big or go home. He wants to make a big announcement, until then, they won’t talk," adds the source. When called for comment an evasive Bhar said he won’t comment on him being a member of the group he helped form. Asked how he’s working with Tira, considering their issues, Bhar asked, "What issues are you talking about? We don’t have issues with DJ Tira, I am good with him." DJ Tira also was surprised and said, "Whenever I see Bhar performing, I join him on stage, even last week I did the same." Danger declined to comment, instead, he dropped the call after we fielded him with questions. DJ Tira played coy and said Danger is just doing his thing. "There is nothing there, Danger is just doing his thing," he said
