Former Orlando Pirates footballer Thandani 'Bibo' Ntshumayelo appeared at the Randburg Magistrates Court today on a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The fallen footballer (33) is alleged to have assaulted his then-girlfriend, Itumeleng Alice, in February this year. The incident happened on a Friday night when a fight between him and one of his friends ensued and she tried to intervene in an attempt to stop the commotion but instead was harmed. According to National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane, his girlfriend laid charges against him. "He allegedly became aggressive towards her, slapped her on the face, grabbed her head and hit it against the wall. She further alleges that he pushed her to the ground," Mjonondwane said. Thandani was arrested and released on R1,000 bail pending further investigation. Today, his case was postponed to Wednesday, 12 June. The Investigation is complete with the J88 outstanding

DOPING

The life of former Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United midfielder is nothing short of controversy. In January 2016, he tested positive for cocaine and was handed a suspension by the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport. He was found guilty of an anti-doping violation in August 2016 and banned for four years.
