After reports suggested the Balobedu Royal family was not consulted prior to the making of the Queen Modjadji drama series, all have been cleared and the Royal Council has given the production a go-ahead. The cast has been selected to portray the historic figures in the production that tells the fascinating story of the Modjadji - The Rain Queen. Joining the cast are beauty queens and former Miss South Africa winners, Shudufhadzo Musida and Ndavi Nokeri.

ROYAL RIGHT HAND

Former Miss SA 2020 and author of kiddies' book, Shudufadzo will portray the role of Muthanoni Mulalo, one of the wives from the VhaVenda Royal Family. This is her debut on television. Crowned in 2022 and represented SA in the Miss Universe pageant during the same year, Ndavi Nokeri will portray the role of Muthanoni Khensani, another one of the wives from the VaTsonga Royal Family. "I am always happy to be part of something that tells African stories and our rich history,' Ndavi says. "I am very excited about the role. I can't say much as yet but I am looking forward to exploring my creativity and acting skills.'

OTHER CHARACTERS

Ngelekanyo Ramulodi, will play a young 14-year-old the young Modjadji. Ngele previously played S'phiwo on Fatal Seduction and Noughts & Crosses on various other platforms. In the series, she plays the young Modjadji and 14-year-old Maselegwani. Masutang Rasekele will play Dzugudini, the daughter of the Rain King and the mother of Queen Modjadji who is instrumental in saving the kingdom from a catastrophe. Helen Lebepe is set to act as Raisibe ,who assists Modjadji with confidence when dealing with the real world. Thabo Bopape will play Mambo Mugodo, a Supreme Mambo/King of the Kharanga Kingdom. He is obsessed with becoming the greatest rainmaker and is racing against time.
