After a successful listening session and the promise of getting a taste of great music from her upcoming album. Joburg fans have been left disappointed after singer and dancer Bongekile "Babes Wodumo' Simelane did not arrive for her booking.
DISAPPOINTING
Babes was billed to perform at Amigo's Bar and Grill in Randburg Johannesburg. But the Ka Dez singer failed to meet her side of the deal and pitch for the event. Fans who came from near and far filled up the venue wanting to see her perform but she did not show up. Fans stayed until midnight until they gave up and left. "I am so disappointed, my sister came from the Vaal, so she could see Babes on stage but we waited until the club closed,' said Kea Mofolo, a guest on the night. "We also came just to see Babes. We always have a good time and see big artists at Amigo's but we were just disappointed, we hope that she comes back. She didn't say anything on her social media, about maybe being stuck in traffic or anything, we hope she is okay and will still make it next time.'
NO-SHOW
Amigo's boss Moses said it was disappointing that she did not make it. "It's not a good look for us as a venue. We have built trust amongst our patrons and they know we only aim to deliver the best. But it's disheartening when an artist doesn't show up, for sometimes valid or invalid reasons.' The venue has previously hosted Morda, DJ Tira, Zuma, Emtee, Kabza De Small and many others. "But it's not often that artists don't show up.' Babes Wodumo's sister and manager, Nondu Simelane, said they experienced some challenges with transportation from Durban. "We really wanted to be there, Babes even posted on social media saying we are looking forward to attending, but we had issues with the vehicle taking us to Joburg,' she said. "We are truly sorry, and we make it up. We don't plan for such things to happen but we will try and make it up to the venue and the fans.'
