Another tremor hits Joburg!

Another earth tremor rocked parts of Joburg

No major incidents were recorded after the tremor last night. The Council for Geoscience (CGS) recorded 2.98 a seismic event in the Johannesburg.

CGS said the earthquake occurred on Saturday evening at around 18:46 in the south of the City.


JOHANNESBURG SOUTH EPICENTRE


The earthquake registered a local magnitude of approximately 2.98, as recorded by the South African National Seismograph Network (SANSN), according to a statement.

"The epicentre was located south on Johannesburg 2 kilometres, south of Harmony Doorkop Gold Mine." SANSN encouraged the public to record their experiences."The public is encouraged to record their experiences using the available online questionnaire," concluded the statement.


NO MAJOR INCIDENT


Johannesburg Emergency Management Services Spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi confirmed no major incidents were recorded.

"No major incidents were reported into the tremor that was reported in south parts of Johannesburg especially in Roodepoort and Soweto area but so far we remain on high alert to monitor all should there be any incidents that we can effectively respond to," he added. Last month the City of Gold was hit by a tremor but a severe one with a magnitude of 4.4.
