It was first rumoured that former Real Housewives Of Durban star, singer, and actresses Mbali Ngiba was leaving Umkhokha: The Curse season two. Mbali has since confirmed that the rumours as true.
LEAVING
It is said that the directors and scriptwriters of the telenovela felt that her character of Zodwa was not growing. "They felt she was stagnant and there was not much they could do with her character,' an insider says. "When writers struggle to grow a character, the next thing they do is write them off, or kill them if they permanently want them gone. Mbali is not a terrible actress, she did well and she's also kind and gentle. But they were stuck and didn't know what to do with her role.'
MORE ACTORS LEAVE
Mbali leaves just a month after vocalist and actor Mbuso Khoza who played the role of Babu Maphalala exited the show to pursue his podcast dreams and to focus on his music. The source says Mbali's contract was terminated after an incident with a security guard whom she allegedly insulted about earning
R4 000. The actress was caught on camera having a heated argument with the guard. "That was bad. That put her in bad books with Gatsheni (Duma Ndlovu). He likes respect and that was the end for her.'
Mbali confirmed the "sad news' saying she has come to the end of the road with her character, Zodwa. "I want to thank everyone for supporting me, producers, characters, and everyone,' Mbali said, adding, "I want to thank my colleagues and everyone."
