Andile Mpisane's first public sighting after he failed to appear before SARS inquiry

Andile Mpisane

The chairman of Royal AM, Andile Mpisane made his first public appearance yesterday after he failed to attend an important South African Revenue Service (SARS) inquiry held in Umhlanga from 12 July until last week.

HE ATTENDED TRAINING

SARS senior officials were unable to quiz him about his team, Royal AM, which owes the taxman more than R37 million. It is not clear why the son of businessman and chairperson of Gap Fixers of SA Sbu Mpisane and controversial businesswoman and socialite, Shauwn "MaMkhize" Mkhize missed his appearance at the inquiry.

The inquiry ended abruptly after Advocate Coreth Naude was shot three times after leaving her hotel in Umhlanga. She was allegedly shot by two hitmen, and made a run for it in a getaway car after an assassination attempt on her life.

On Friday he attended the training session of Royal AM as the team will play their pre-season match against Milford FC at the Premier's Cup in Prince Mangosuthu Regional Stadium in Ulundi today. While Andile was absent at the inquiry, his mother, MaMkhize was the first to be grilled by the SARS officers.

Next in line testify was MaMkhize's elder sister Nozipho and her hubby, Smakade Ngubo.

OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS GRILLED

Other family members and friends of Shauwn also appeared to answer on the businesses and trust accounts held in their names.

Andile was called several times when his date to appear was coming closer but to no avail.

With Royal AM under Shandi Trust and owing SARS millions in unpaid taxes, it is not clear what the future holds for the soccer club.

A Pietermaritzburg High Court judge granted SARS a preservation order to attach Shauwn's expensive cars like a Rolls Royce Cullinan, Porsche Urus, Mercedes-Maybach, 2 BMWs X6 and a BMW X5, among others. Zimoja could not reach Andile for comment.
