Ambitiouz Entertainment former employees accuse record label boss of not paying what's due to them

Kgosi Mahumapelo is accused of owing his former employees

Former employees of Ambitiouz Entertainment are accusing the record label boss, Kgosi Mahumapelo, of not paying them despite winning a CCMA case they filed against him last year. ZiMoja understands that in May last year, the disgruntled employees approached the CCMA and filed grievances against their boss, accusing him of not paying them their salaries for months of service.

ARBITRATION AWARD

Speaking to ZiMoja, one of the disgruntled employees, Thando Galebosiwe, said that as a result of not being paid her money, she had to deplete her savings and that even though she had since secured another job, she still wanted her money because of the "anxiety and stress she suffered". "I want him to pay me my money, although I'm back on my feet, dealing with the court case has been traumatic and what's even more stressful is the fact that he defied a court order that ordered him to compensate us for the months we were not paid," she said. Galebosiwe added that she is owed almost R100K by the music mogul. She further alleged that Mahumapelo refused to open his residence to the sheriffs of the court who went to serve him summons on more than one occasion.

IGNORING THEM

Another former employee, Kgothatso Mokgohlwa, who also worked at Ambitiouz, revealed that Kgosi had allegedly made a commitment to settle the payment in July last year, after he lost the case. "He made a commitment to pay all of us, but he hasn't been taking our calls since then," said Kgothatso. In a WhatsApp text messages to Mahumapelo, which ZiMoja has seen, Kgothatso expressed her frustration of not being paid and said she needs the money, as her debit orders had bounced, but there was no response to the messages. When pressed for comment, Mahumapelo said:" I cannot comment officially on this matter, because all those employees signed contracts, which are confidential, so I cannot breach the employer/employee confidentiality".
